We are 7 Slovenian students and got the opportunity for Erasmus+ internship in Treviso. While working in a company and having Italian course we also had opportunity to explore the city and more.

I would like to present you the traveling part of Erasmus+, because I do not think much people know, that Erasmus+ project is much more than just working and studying. It has also a big impact on your social skills, personal growth, orientation and even more.

When we arrived in Treviso, we did not know what to expect from the next two weeks on Erasmus+ exchange. While strolling through the streets surrounded by historic buildings, we felt something special was beginning. This short but intense experience has become much more than just an academic trip; it has become a journey of personal discovery and cultural exchange.

For the first three days, we visited the old town, enjoyed discovering historical facts and observing Italian culture. Already on the first day we were very pleased with delicious pizza, pasta and tiramisu. For the next two days, we learned interesting facts about various sights: Fountain of Tits, Porta San Tomaso, Duomo Di Treviso, The Pescheria, etc. Mostly we were surprised and impressed by the church of the Duomo Di Treviso, as both its interior and exterior are beautiful. Inside it, we were mainly overwhelmed by the beautiful painting of the church. While walking through the old town, we enjoyed shopping at local shops and eating ice cream.

The next few days passed quickly with work, good drinks, interesting culture, and friendly people. On Sunday, we went to Venice. We were especially impressed by the Venice Biennale. This year’s theme was “Foreigners Everywhere”. Curated by Adriano Pedrosa, this edition explores the idea of foreignness in its various dimensions, reflecting on the experiences of being a foreigner, immigrant, or outsider. We were most impressed by the American, Swiss and Russian pavilions. We continued our journey through the narrow and colorful streets of Venice all the way to the Basilica of San Marco.

Our next trip was a visit to Padua. First, we visited the Ragione Palace and University of Padua. There is a saying that you will never finish your studies at university if you visit the university café, so we preferred to go elsewhere for coffee. We also visited Basilica of Saint Anthony and Scrovegni Chapel, which were simply magical.

The days passed quickly and we spent them once again working, enjoying good food, drinks, and shopping in the old town center. We spent the last evening by the river, where we said goodbye to Treviso at sunset, but we hope it won’t be forever.
